What You’ll Do

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate GISc project activities to support departmental objectives.
  • Conduct system requirements analysis and cost-benefit analysis for GIS projects.
  • Develop conceptual database designs and processing models, alongside workflow diagrams.
  • Oversee advanced spatial analysis and modelling for institutional strategies.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies to enhance GIS capabilities.
  • Liaise with relevant bodies and councils on GISc matters.
  • Manage human resource requirements and draft necessary documentation, such as tender documents and service level agreements.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and monitor project budgets effectively.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks related to GIS projects.

What You’ll Need

  • A National Senior Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related field.
  • At least three years of post-qualification experience in a Geographic Information Systems environment.
  • Compulsory registration as a Geomatics Professional with Professional and Technical Surveyors (PLATO) or the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC).
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
  • Strong knowledge of GIS platforms (such as ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS) and experience in Geo-database design and Enterprise GIS Administration.
  • Familiarity with the Government Immovable Asset Management Act (GIAMA) and other relevant legislation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
