About the Role
The Department of Transport is looking for dedicated individuals to join their team as Finance Clerks in various locations across the Capricorn District, Mopani District, Sekhukhune District, Vhembe District, and Waterberg District. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that public funds are managed efficiently, supporting the overall financial health of government initiatives in South Africa. The Finance Clerks will be based at key traffic stations and the head office in Polokwane, where they will contribute to the seamless processing of state funds, ultimately benefiting the community and enhancing public service delivery.
In this role, the Finance Clerks will be responsible for performing essential cashier duties, including the issuance of receipts and the safekeeping and banking of state monies. By maintaining accurate financial records and reporting, they ensure transparency and accountability in the management of public finances. What You’ll Do
- Perform cashier duties such as issuing receipts and managing state funds.
- Safeguard and bank state monies, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions.
- Maintain and update relevant financial registers and reports.
- Capture revenue transactions in the financial system efficiently.
- Prepare payments to provincial entities and service providers related to cash collections.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
- Proficiency in computer literacy and familiarity with financial systems.
- A qualification in Financial Management is an added advantage.
- A valid Driver’s Licence is required, except for individuals with disabilities.
- Core competencies in financial systems, debtors management, and problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills and a good understanding of the legislative framework governing Public Service.
