What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive mapping and planning services for schools and educational facilities.
- Coordinate revitalization efforts for schools, especially in rural and township areas.
- Facilitate planning and implementation of scholar transport solutions.
- Conduct planning liaison with circuits to assess institutional needs.
- Oversee the approval process for changes in school types and classifications.
- Conduct data and spatial analysis to inform educational planning and provisioning.
- Develop models tailored for rural schools to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Manage infrastructure development and maintenance for educational institutions.
- Lead and motivate a team to achieve high standards in education operations.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of various educational agreements.
What You’ll Need
- A recognized bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in relevant fields such as Education Management, Public Administration, or Town and Regional Planning.
- A postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8 or higher) is advantageous.
- Completion of the Nyukela Public Service Senior Management Service (SMS) Pre-Entry Programme.
- Valid driver’s license (not applicable for persons with disabilities).
- At least five years of experience in middle or senior management roles within the education sector or related fields.
- Proven expertise in school landscape planning and educational transformation initiatives.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Requirements
An appropriate recognised bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Education Management, Educational Planning, Public Administration, Development Studies, Rural Development, Public Management, Geography, Town and Regional Planning, Social Sciences, Economics, Project Management or a related field.A postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8 or higher) in any of the aforementioned fields will serve as an added advantage.
Successful completion of the Nyukela Public Service Senior Management Service (SMS) Pre-Entry Programme.
A valid driver's licence (except for persons with disabilities).
A minimum of five (5) years' experience at a middle/senior management level within the education sector, public sector planning, institutional planning, rural development, educational transformation, school 99 governance, infrastructure planning, district coordination, educational access programmes or related fields.
Demonstrable experience in school landscape planning, school rationalisation and realignment processes, education transformation initiatives, institutional planning, rural education development and educational access programmes.
Proven experience in coordinating strategic projects and programmes aimed at improving educational outcomes, institutional efficiency and equitable access to quality education.
Extensive experience in policy development, strategic planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes within the education sector.
Proven ability to analyse demographic, enrolment, migration, geographic and socio- economic trends to inform school provisioning, school sustainability and education planning decisions.
Competencies: Good communication (verbal and written) skills, presentation skills, analytical skills, strategic planning and reporting skills, computer literacy, leadership skills, project management, stakeholder management skills, risk management and financial management skills; Should be a strategic thinker who has the ability to lead within a diverse environment; Should be able to work under pressure.
; Candidate should have ability to maintain sound interpersonal relations; Preference will be given to candidates who have a working knowledge of the Education Policies, PFMA and Treasury Regulations applicable to the public service, NEPA, Educators Employment Act, SASA, Teacher Development Framework and Policies; A good understanding of Curriculum and teacher development within the sector; A sound and through understanding of the Education Sector.

Job Duties

Develop teaching models suitable for rural schools.
Coordinate infrastructure development and maintenance for rural schools.
Monitor the implementation of SASSA section 14 agreements.
Adapt education programs to serve specific needs of rural and deprived learners.
Manage education operations.
Maintain high standards by ensuring that the team/section produces excellent work in terms of quality/quantity and timeliness.
Resolve problems of motivation and control with minimum guidance from manager.
Delegate functions to staff based on individual potential provide the necessary guidance and support and afford staff adequate training and development opportunities.
Ensure timeously development of job descriptions and implementation of Work Plans and Personal Development Plans (PDP’s) for all subordinates.
Manage daily employee performance and ensure timely Performance Assessments of all subordinates.
