DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT – DIRECTOR: ROAD ASSET AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT
The Department of Transport is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to fill the role of Director: Road Asset and Quality Management in Pretoria. What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement road asset management performance indicators.
- Conduct audits of existing road asset management systems.
- Set minimum standards for road asset management across all levels of authority.
- Establish memorandums of understanding with road authorities for timely information updates.
- Mobilise funding sources for the enhancement of road management systems.
- Develop national road asset management policies and guidelines.
- Oversee a centralized road asset management system.
- Manage infrastructure safety audits and quality assurance processes.
- Coordinate disaster management programs related to road infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain a road resource inventory database.
- Provide guidance and support to staff, ensuring their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and administrative requirements.
What You’ll Need
- A qualification at NQF 7 in Civil Engineering recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in middle/senior management within road infrastructure development.
- In-depth knowledge of road infrastructure standards and guidelines.
- Familiarity with the National Land Transport Act and relevant civil engineering specifications.
- Strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Leadership capabilities and experience in stakeholder coordination.
- Understanding of financial management and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
