About the Role
The Department of Health is currently seeking a skilled Diagnostic Radiographer to join its dedicated team at the Uthukela District Office in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal. What You’ll Do
- Provide high-quality diagnostic radiographic services according to patient needs.
- Promote health practices and ensure optimal patient care.
- Execute clinical procedures completely to prevent complications.
- Offer a 24-hour radiographic service, including weekends and public holidays.
- Perform reception and clerical duties as required.
- Compile reports in alignment with working environment standards.
- Ensure compliance with safe radiation protection standards.
- Contribute positively to the overall workflow within the component.
- Uphold and promote the Batho Pele principles in service delivery.
What You’ll Need
- Registration as a Radiographer with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Radiographer Grade 1: Nil experience required post-registration (RSA qualified).
- Radiographer Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years’ experience post-registration (RSA qualified).
- Radiographer Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years’ experience post-registration (RSA qualified).
- Knowledge of diagnostic radiography procedures, including CT and fluoroscopy.
- Understanding of radiation control and safety measures.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of relevant health and safety Acts.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Requirements
Radiographer Grade 1 Nil Experience after registration with HPCSA in respect of RSA qualified who have performed community services and the appropriate/recognizable experience in respect of foreign qualified not required to perform community service.Radiographer Grade 2 minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience after registration as a Radiographer with the HPCSA in respect of RSA qualified who have performed community services in the appropriate/recognizable experience after registration as a Radiographer with the HPCSA in respect of foreign qualified not required to perform community service.
Radiographer Grade 3 minimum of 20 years with appropriate/recognizable experience after registration as a Radiographer with the HPCSA in respect of RSA qualified who have performed community services, and 21 year appropriate/recognized experience after registration as a Radiographer with the HPCSA in respect of foreign qualified not required to perform community service.
Knowledge, Skills, Training And Competencies Required: Sound knowledge of diagnostic Radiography procedures, including computed tomography and fluoroscopy, and equipment.
Sound knowledge of radiation control and safety measures.
Computer literacy.
Knowledge of 161 relevant health and safety Acts.
Ability to communicate effectively and problem- solving skills.
Good interpersonal relations and ability to perform well within a team.
Ability to perform basic quality assurance tests
