The position of Deputy Surveyor-General is an essential role within the Department of Land Reform and Rural Development, based in Pretoria, Gauteng. What You’ll Do
- Manage the provisioning of registry services and oversee the receipt and dispatch of cadastral documents.
- Ensure that all necessary fees for office services are paid before accepting cadastral documents.
- Oversee the maintenance of the cadastral correspondence filing system and registry enquiry services.
- Manage the rendering of first and second level examination services for cadastral documents.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant land administration legislation and policies.
- Provide professional advice to Professional Land Surveyors and government officials.
- Liaise with the Registrar of Deeds and ensure cadastral documents are registerable.
- Support training and development initiatives for officials in the cadastral system.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 Certificate and an undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) in Geomatics/Land Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
- Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor with the South African Geomatics Council.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role within a land surveying environment.
- A valid driver’s licence and appropriate post-registration experience in cadastral surveying.
- Strong knowledge of cadastral surveying, land information systems, and government decision-making processes.
- Excellent project management, team management, and interpersonal skills.
