What You’ll Do

  • Provide sound legal opinions to guide departmental decisions and actions.
  • Draft comprehensive legal opinions addressing various legal matters.
  • Represent the department during legal proceedings and hearings.
  • Ensure compliance with legal frameworks such as PAIA, PAJA, and POPIA.
  • Conduct data inventories to assess the processing of personal information.
  • Implement data protection policies and procedures to safeguard personal information.
  • Lead evidence and present persuasive legal arguments in court.
  • Consult with relevant stakeholders to provide legal advice and support.
  • Stay updated on legal developments and research applicable legal principles.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB degree (NQF Level 8) from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 14 years’ post-graduate legal experience.
  • Admission as an Attorney or Advocate in the High Court of South Africa.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and report writing.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Capacity to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
