What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and manage Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures within the department.
  • Analyze health trends and develop actionable responses.
  • Conduct incident investigations and audit approved inspections related to Occupational Hygiene and First Aid.
  • Implement safety and health survey programs aimed at accident reduction.
  • Participate in disaster management and risk assessment teams.
  • Compile and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual OHS reports.
  • Support quarterly Safety, Health, and Environment Committee meetings across the department.
  • Conduct audits in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Provide expert advice during site meetings regarding OHS issues.
  • Ensure the achievement of OHS objectives and targets.
  • Oversee risk assessments and provide guidance on regulatory compliance.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coach and guide staff on best practices related to health and safety.

What You’ll Need

  • An undergraduate qualification in Environmental Studies, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field at NQF level 6.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Junior Management, Assistant Director, or Specialist role in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Strong skills in project management, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail and analytical thinking.
