About the Role
The Department of the Premier is seeking a motivated individual to fill the role of Assistant Director: Performance Administration in Cape Town, Western Cape. This role is crucial in ensuring that performance management processes are effectively facilitated and administered across various departments. By managing the probation and performance management processes, the Assistant Director will contribute significantly to the enhancement of public service delivery, making a real difference to the communities served by the Western Cape Government.
In this pivotal position, you will oversee the development and administration of performance agreements, ensuring quality assurance and alignment of departmental outcomes. Your work will also involve providing essential training and support to Senior Management Service (SMS) members, as well as liaising with provincial and national departments. What You’ll Do
- Facilitate and administer probation and performance management processes within departments.
- Monitor performance management activities and compile regular progress reports.
- Guide and oversee the development of performance agreements, ensuring quality assurance and assessments.
- Provide training and support on PERMIS-related queries to SMS members and employees.
- Deliver advisory services and operational support to people managers and employees.
- Liaise with provincial and national departments regarding performance management matters.
- Contribute to the development and updating of policies and standard operating procedures.
- Manage and supervise staff within the Performance Administration Unit.
What You’ll Need
- A qualification at NQF level 6 recognized by SAQA, such as a 3-year National Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management or Industrial Psychology.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a Human Resource Management environment.
- Strong knowledge of performance management systems, public service regulations, and related legislation.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Leadership and motivation skills, along with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong analytical, planning, and project management skills.
