About the Role
The Department of Traditional Affairs is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional for the position of Deputy Director: Management Accounting, based in Pretoria. What You’ll Do
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes within the department.
- Ensure credible budget submissions to National Treasury, including MTEF and AENE.
- Manage cash flow projections and facilitate the monthly drawing process.
- Convene and lead departmental budget committee meetings.
- Conduct research and prepare forecasts for future financial conditions.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to support management decisions.
- Monitor compliance with financial regulations, including PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
- Develop and review internal controls and policies to improve financial processes.
- Analyze departmental expenditure reports and consult with Programme Managers for budget adjustments.
- Assist in managing audit action plans and resolving audit queries to improve outcomes.
What You’ll Need
- A three-year Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Financial Management (NQF level 7).
- At least 5 years of experience at junior management or Assistant Director level in a relevant financial role.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong competencies in Strategic Capacity, Financial Management, and Project Management.
- Proficiency in financial regulations, accounting practices, and the Basic Accounting System (BAS).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on client orientation.
