About the Role
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning is seeking a dedicated Control Environmental Officer Grade A based in Victor Khanye (Delmas). What You’ll Do
- Manage the environmental centre and oversee its operations.
- Implement and oversee environmental empowerment programs and projects as per the APP.
- Coordinate with local and municipal stakeholders to promote environmental awareness.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.
- Ensure compliance with internal control measures and financial management.
- Lead capacity-building initiatives tailored for schools and community organizations.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as required by your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 qualification and a recognized Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Environmental Science or a related field.
- At least 5 years of work experience in environmental education and empowerment.
- Proven ability to implement programs that promote environmental sustainability.
- Knowledge of relevant public services regulations and environmental management acts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
- A valid driver’s license.

Requirements
Grade 12 plus a recognised Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in environmental Science fields or related qualification.A minimum of 5 year’s work experience in environmental education and/or empowerment.
Ability to implement environmental empowerment programmes and projects to empower disadvantaged communities in terms of environmental sustainability and creation of work opportunities.
Skills And Competencies: Knowledge of relevant Public Services Regulatory Framework (Public Service Act, Public services Regulations Act and Public Finance Management Act), National Environmental Management Act, Environmental Education policies, guidelines, norms and standards related to Environmental Prescripts applicable to EE.
Ability to work independently and in multi-disciplinary team.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Project administration, innovative, creative ability to operate Microsoft office programmes (Excel, word and PowerPoint).
Ability to work under pressure with strict timelines.
Supervisory and human resource management skills.
Good interpersonal skills, Conflict Management skills, Ability to work individually and in a team.
A valid driver’s licence.
Job Duties
Manage the environmental centre, implement, and manage environmental empowerment programmes, projects and activities in line with the Annual performance plan (APP).Management of performance in the centre in line with PMDS and APP.
Ensure implementation of environmental empowerment programmes.
Projects, and events as per APP on school, municipal and stakeholder level.
Coordination of local, and municipal stakeholders for environmental awareness creation, capacity building, and empowerment.
Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested and required by the supervisor.
Ensure effective and efficient management of financial and physical resources of the centre.
Ensure internal control measures and compliances are in place.
Prepare, consolidate, and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required.
