What You’ll Do

  • Manage and control grounds equipment and materials, ensuring optimal use and availability.
  • Prepare, implement, and monitor maintenance schedules for outdoor areas.
  • Supervise the removal of weeds and grass from garden beds and flower beds.
  • Oversee the fertilization of soil in flower beds for healthy plant growth.
  • Conduct physical inspections of grounds to maintain cleanliness and adherence to safety standards.
  • Support administration within the section, including identifying training needs for staff.
  • Assist in performance reviews and development of team members.

What You’ll Need

  • A minimum of ABET level 4 / Grade 9.
  • Relevant experience in horticultural practices is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of garden maintenance practices and office administration.
  • Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Requirements

A minimum of ABET level 4/ Grade 9.

Relevant experience of horticultural practices and clerical services will be an added advantage).

Knowledge of Garden maintenance practices; Office Administration.

Operating horticultural equipment; Occupational health and safety; Personnel practices.

Labour Relations Act.

Effective communication skills.

Good communication, leadership and organizational skills.

A valid driver’s license.

Job Duties

Manage and control equipment and materials-: Identify resource requirements and special operational needs.

Monitor the condition and availability of equipment.

Ensure the maintenance/servicing of equipment and other outdoor maintenance tasks-: Prepare, implement and monitor maintenance schedules.

Ensure that weeds and grass on bedding are removed.

Supervise the fertilization of soil on flower beds.

Perform physical inspection of worked ground areas-: Ensure the removal of garden rubbish/refuse around buildings.

Ensure the inspection of logistics and physical environment to ensure clean maintained environment adherence to OHS.

Perform general supervision and support the administration of the Section.

Identify staff requirements in terms of training and development.

Assist with performance reviews of subordinates.

Support the administration of human resources.

Salary

R201 093 per annum
