About the Role
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Forestry Service Aid, with multiple posts available in Mpumalanga and Limpopo. What You’ll Do
- Perform silviculture functions within designated plantations and forests.
- Mark plots, count, and mark trees as part of forest management activities.
- Maintain and update various registers related to forestry operations.
- Assist in fighting forest and veld fires, and carry out prescribed burning tasks.
- Provide harvesting services to ensure sustainable timber production.
- Monitor and support propagation activities.
- Produce and process poles, including tasks such as cutting, drying, and sampling.
What You’ll Need
- NQF Level 1 or a relevant equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of planting techniques and firefighting protocols.
- Strong planning and execution abilities, with a sense of responsibility.
- Excellent interpersonal relations and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and self-discipline in executing tasks.
- Good communication and listening skills necessary for effective collaboration.

Requirements
NQF Level 1 or relevant equivalent qualification.Knowledge of: Planting and firefighting.

Job Duties
Render Silviculture functions within plantations and forests.Conduct the marking of plots, counting and marking of trees.
Update a variety of registers regarding the aspects of work.
Fight forest/veld fire or perform prescribed burning task.
Render harvesting services.
Monitor the propagation of activities.
