What You’ll Do

  • Provide town and regional spatial planning and future forecasting.
  • Lead and manage the application of planning principles in land development projects.
  • Offer technical assistance to teams regarding town and regional planning.
  • Monitor development implementation to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Manage the development and adoption of planning standards and guidelines.
  • Formulate and interpret planning legislation, policies, and regulations.
  • Provide spatial planning and land use management services in collaboration with the National Office.
  • Implement tools and systems for effective spatial planning at the provincial level.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing initiatives and manage significant risks.
  • Render planning support and advice for departmental programs focused on rural development.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Town and Regional Planning or Urban and Regional Planning.
  • Compulsory registration with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) as a Professional Town and Regional Planner upon appointment.
  • A minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience in Town and Regional Planning.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of program and project management principles.
  • Familiarity with town and regional planning processes and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided applications relevant to the role.
  • Strong skills in strategic management, analytical thinking, and effective communication.
  • A willingness to travel as required.
