About the Role
The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development is seeking a dedicated Chief Director: Monitoring and Evaluation to join their team in Pretoria, Gauteng. This pivotal role focuses on overseeing the development and maintenance of an integrated monitoring and evaluation system that is essential for enhancing the effectiveness of the department’s operations and its related State-Owned Entities (SOEs). By ensuring that performance is accurately monitored and evaluated, this position plays a crucial role in ensuring that the department meets its strategic objectives, ultimately benefiting communities across South Africa.

What You’ll Do
- Oversee the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for departmental programs and SOEs.
- Manage the systems for data collection, reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of monitoring systems.
- Compile and consolidate departmental performance reports aligned with strategic and operational plans.
- Facilitate training and capacity-building initiatives on monitoring and evaluation practices.
- Establish and lead forums to enhance monitoring and evaluation within the department.
- Engage in national and international discussions to improve evaluation practices.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
- A Nyukela certificate (Pre-entry Certificate to the SMS) is required prior to appointment.
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior managerial role focusing on monitoring and evaluation.
- Proven experience in integrated planning for multisector engagement.
- A valid driver’s license is necessary.
- Strong skills in communication, project management, and strategic leadership.
