The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is seeking a dedicated Chief Director: Financial Management to join its team in Bisho, Eastern Cape. What You’ll Do
- Oversee the management and provision of management accounting services.
- Ensure the preparation and monitoring of the department’s budget, including MTEF budget and adjustment estimates.
- Compile and support the internal stakeholders during the final draft budget preparation process.
- Manage monthly forecasts and ensure timely submission of financial performance reports.
- Develop and implement financial administration and accounting policies, systems, and processes.
- Supervise expenditure control systems to prevent unauthorized and irregular expenditure.
- Oversee revenue management frameworks to ensure effective billing and collection of revenue.
- Manage asset liability and debt management services to maintain financial integrity.
- Ensure compliance with audit recommendations and promote good corporate governance.
- Facilitate intergovernmental relations and integrated governance across the department.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in B.Com, Management Accounting, or Financial Management (NQF L7).
- A postgraduate qualification in Finance and articles will be advantageous.
- At least five years of experience at a Senior Managerial level in financial management.
- Pre-entry SMS or Nyukela Certificate is compulsory prior to appointment.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Strong knowledge of public finance management legislation and best practices.
- Proficiency in financial reporting, risk management, and internal controls.
- Excellent communication, analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
