About the Opportunity
Bergrivier Municipality is offering two exciting internship positions as part of the Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme. This initiative, backed by National Treasury, aims to bolster financial-management capacity within municipalities. Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience and structured training in municipal financial management, supply chain management, internal auditing, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
– Financial Services Intern: Engage in municipal accounting, budgeting, financial management, and supply chain management. Assist with financial reconciliations and data collection.
– Internal Auditing and Risk Management Intern: Train in internal auditing, risk management, compliance, audit planning, risk identification, and governance activities.
Requirements/Qualifications
Applicants must possess a three-year bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in relevant fields such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Internal Auditing, or Risk Management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and at least two official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa) is required. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are essential.
Benefits
Interns will receive an annual stipend of R100,000, aligned with National Treasury guidelines. The internship is initially for 24 months, with a possible extension based on municipal needs.
