About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager Nursing (Head of Nursing Services) based in Pretoria. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that nursing education and training are effectively coordinated in line with the standards set by the South African Nursing Council (SANC), the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), and the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness (WCDHW). By managing the clinical placement of nursing and health sciences students, you will contribute significantly to the development of a skilled healthcare workforce, which is vital for enhancing community health services throughout South Africa.

What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and administer the provincial clinical placement framework.
- Ensure compliance with SANC, HPCSA, and WCDHW prescripts for clinical placements.
- Liaise with educational institutions regarding student placements and accreditation.
- Monitor and maintain databases related to clinical placements and training.
- Prepare reports on placement and accreditation status as required.
- Provide operational support and advice on nursing education and clinical placements.
- Identify and manage resources related to nursing education and training.
What You’ll Need
- Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- Post-basic nursing qualification in Nursing Education, accredited with SANC.
- Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in nursing with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing education legislation and clinical placement frameworks.
- Strong skills in information management, data analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication abilities.
