What You’ll Do
- Provide a multilingual technical terminology service, including source and target text development.
- Manage and oversee projects related to terminology coordination.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and language practitioners to enhance terminology practices.
- Develop and implement national terminology policies and guidelines.
- Compile and publish terminology lists for public dissemination.
- Conduct terminology research and manage the Terminology Management System (TMS).
- Facilitate training sessions on terminology management principles for staff and community members.
- Supervise and provide guidance to subordinates in the terminology unit.
What You’ll Need
- Senior Certificate/Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of a three-year National Diploma (NQF level 6) or Degree (NQF level 7) in Language Practice, Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting Studies, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience as a Language Practitioner in terminological or lexicographical environments.
- Strong knowledge of public service regulations, terminology principles, and language policies.
- Excellent editing, proofreading, and writing skills with proficiency in at least two official languages, including English.
- Project management skills and advanced computer skills.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
