About the Role
The Department of Water and Sanitation is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director: Africa Bilaterals Relations to join their team at the Pretoria Head Office. What You’ll Do
- Assist in the implementation of international agreements with priority countries.
- Conduct research and compile briefing documents, position papers, and reports supporting bilateral engagements.
- Facilitate international stakeholder engagements and maintain relationships with foreign governments, embassies, and high commissions.
- Participate in bilateral forums and support strategic interventions for international water cooperation.
- Draft relevant documents, including submissions, letters, and briefing notes.
- Assist in establishing new strategic partnerships that enhance cooperation in water management.
What You’ll Need
- A relevant NQF level 6 qualification in International Relations or Political Science.
- Five years of experience in international relations.
- Strong understanding of international politics and the differences between multilateral and bilateral agreements.
- Familiarity with policy development processes and relevant legislation, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage diverse stakeholder relationships.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer-focused approach.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and departmental policies.
