About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Administration Clerk: Finance to join their team at the Head Office, located within the premises of Karl Bremer Hospital in Bellville, Cape Town. By ensuring timely processing of payments and maintaining financial records, you will contribute significantly to the provision of healthcare services within the community.
In this position, you will be responsible for capturing BAS and LOGIS payments, managing financial documentation, and reconciling supplier statements. What You’ll Do
- Capture and process BAS and LOGIS payments, ensuring adherence to the 30-day payment policy.
- Manage and verify S&T claims on PERSAL, clearing matching reports monthly.
- Control and capture journals, reporting on Assets and Liability accounts to your supervisor.
- Follow up on debt accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant prescripts.
- Safeguard financial documents and maintain up-to-date registers.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of supplier statements for accuracy.
- Prepare monthly reports on Assets and Liabilities.
- Manage and replenish Petty Cash as needed.
What You’ll Need
- A Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with Mathematics and/or Accountancy as a subject.
- Appropriate experience in a finance environment, particularly with LOGIS and BAS.
- A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB).
- Knowledge of the PFMA, NTTR, and PTI legislative framework.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyse data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a collaborative attitude.
