About the Opportunity

Impala Platinum Refineries is proud to offer the Implats Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year. This initiative seeks to empower South African Matric learners by supporting their pursuit of degree qualifications in engineering and science-related fields. Special consideration will be given to students from Eastern Ekurhuleni, Ward 72, and schools in the vicinity of the operation.

Closing Dates

Applications for the Implats Bursary Programme must be submitted by 31 August 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Bursary recipients will engage in skills development activities, ensuring long-term career growth. Additionally, students may participate in vacation work at the Refineries during the December and January holidays, providing invaluable practical exposure and industry experience.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Currently in Matric.
  • Intend to study towards a degree qualification at NQF Level 7 in one of the specified fields: Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (preferably Heavy Current), or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Achieved a minimum of 60% or Level 5 in English, Physical Science, and Mathematics in Grade 11.
  • Preference for students from Eastern Ekurhuleni, Ward 72, and surrounding schools.
