About the Opportunity

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), in partnership with the SASOL Foundation, invites applications for the CSIR-SASOL Foundation Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year. This bursary is designed for full-time, unemployed students aiming to excel in fields critical to research, technology development, innovation, and corporate support.

Key Responsibilities

Recipients of the bursary will be required to engage in real-life projects that address socioeconomic challenges, participate in vacation work opportunities, and potentially secure work placements at CSIR and related organizations. A service contract entails one year of work for each year of funding received.

Requirements/Qualifications

*Current Matric Students:* Must be South African citizens, unemployed, and currently in Matric with plans to study full-time in one of the specified fields in 2027. A minimum of Level 5 in English and Level 6 in Mathematics and Physical Science is required.

*Current University Students:* Must be South African citizens, unemployed, and studying full-time in one of the specified fields, with a minimum overall average of 65% and successful completion of all registered courses.

Bursaries are available for undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Electronic Engineering, Genetics/Cell Biology, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, Material Flow Analysis, Mechatronic Engineering, Process Engineering/Life Cycle Assessment, and System Engineering.
