About the Opportunity
Stellenbosch Municipality is seeking 12 motivated individuals to join their Fire and Rescue Services division under Community and Protection Services. This 12-month learnership is designed for those who meet the necessary firefighting, fitness, and residency requirements. Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in firefighting, emergency rescue services, and fire prevention under expert supervision.

Key Responsibilities
– Respond to firefighting incidents and emergency rescue services
– Provide basic medical care and engage in fire prevention activities
– Participate in training sessions and operate firefighting equipment
– Maintain firefighting equipment and fire station facilities
– Support fire and rescue operations in line with the Fire Brigade Services Act
Requirements/Qualifications
– Grade 12 and completion of an FF1 course
– Medically, physically, and mentally fit with no criminal record
– Residency in the Stellenbosch Municipal Area for the duration of employment
– Proof of address and affidavit confirming residency
– Good interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
– Ability to communicate in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape: English, Afrikaans, and Xhosa
– No mental phobias related to confined spaces, heights, depths, water, blood, darkness, isolation, or corpses
– Valid Code B driver’s licence is an added advantage
