What You’ll Do

• Institute and conduct criminal proceedings on behalf of the State.
• Prepare and present cases in court, including complex matters related to sexual offences.
• Study case dockets and decide on the institution of criminal proceedings.
• Consult with witnesses and guide investigations to build strong cases.
• Draft charge sheets and other court documents with precision.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements in criminal and civil litigation.
• Track and monitor cases through the Criminal Justice System, improving turnaround times.
• Manage court rolls and secure the attendance of witnesses at court.
• Supervise and develop junior staff and other relevant role-players.
• Submit monthly reports detailing performance metrics and statistics.

What You’ll Need

• An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
• At least five years of post-qualification legal experience in prosecution or litigation, focusing on sexual offences and gender-based violence matters.
• Right of appearance as per section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
• Strong ability to act independently and professionally, demonstrating accountability and credibility.
• Proficient in drafting complex legal documents and charge sheets.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong decision-making capabilities and computer literacy, particularly in MS Office.
• A valid driver’s license.
