What You’ll Do

  • Establish and maintain social work services and communication networks for the institution.
  • Provide care, support, and protection services to individuals, families, and groups through relevant programs.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the social work field and apply best practices.
  • Conduct social work research and contribute to policy development.
  • Render holistic social work services using various methods and techniques.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, reporting progress and recommending adjustments.
  • Collaborate with other departments and NGOs to stay informed about developments in social services.
  • Maintain qualitative and quantitative records of social work interventions and outcomes.
  • Implement social welfare programs aligning with community needs and government priorities.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualification as a Social Worker allowing for registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP).
  • Registration with the SACSSP as a Social Worker is mandatory.
  • Experience requirements vary by grade:
  • Grade 1: None required.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years post-registration experience.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years post-registration experience.
  • Grade 4: Minimum of 30 years post-registration experience.
  • Valid code 8/EB driver’s licence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of human behaviour and social service practices, including child and youth care services.
  • Familiarity with the Termination of Pregnancy Act 92 of 1992 and skills in trauma debriefing and supportive counselling.
