What You’ll Do
- Check and authorize sundry and creditor payments on the BAS system.
- Manage payment authorizations for Travel, Communication, and Courier Accounts.
- Capture payments and assist with audit queries on the BAS.
- Oversee general ledger account management and clearing.
- Contribute to the compilation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Authorize General Journals related to expenditure.
- Issue and reconcile interdepartmental claims and National Skills Fund claims.
- Address inquiries related to expenditure functions.
- Supervise and coordinate the performance of subordinates, ensuring disciplined work practices.
- Request BAS reports and maintain accurate filing of claim-related documents.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma in Accounting, Financial Management, or a related qualification with accounting as a subject.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in Government Financial Accounting.
- Proficient knowledge of the BAS system and LOGIS online system.
- Understanding of PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer literacy and problem-solving abilities.
- Skills in planning, organizing, analytical thinking, and client orientation.
- Attributes such as friendliness, trustworthiness, accuracy, confidence, and the ability to work under pressure.
- A valid driver’s license.

Requirements
Applicants must be in possession of an appropriate National Diploma in Accounting / Financial Management or related qualification with accounting as a subject.Two (2) to three (3) years appropriate experience in Government Financial Accounting; the BAS system, knowledge and understanding of the PFMA and Treasury Regulations; knowledge and understanding of the Basic Accounting System (BAS) and the LOGIS online system; good communication (verbal and written) skills; computer literacy; problem-solving skills; planning and organizing skills; analytical skills; liaison skills; client orientation skills; financial management skills; presentation skills; customer care skills.

Job Duties
Checking and authorizing sundry and creditor payments on BAS, which includes the Travel Accounts, Communication Accounts and Courier Accounts.Checking and authorizing order payments on LOGIS online.
Capturing payments on BAS.
Assist on Audit Queries.
Responsible for the managing and clearing of general ledger accounts.
Assist with the provision of information for the compilation of the quarterly and annual financial statements with specific reference to general ledger accounts.
Authorizing of General Journals applicable to expenditure.
Issuing and reconciling interdepartmental claims 78 and claims in respect of the National Skills Fund.
Clearing of suspense accounts related to expenditure.
Manage and respond to enquiries related to this function.
Supervise the work performance of subordinates by inter alia, allocating and controlling work and maintaining office discipline, Requesting of BAS reports when required.
Filing of claim related documents.
