About the Role

The South African Police Service is currently seeking motivated individuals for the position of Security Officer, with five posts available in Pretoria. This role is based in the Midcity Building, specifically located at 540 Pretorius Street, Arcadia, as well as the Veritas Building in Pretoria Central. As a Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of public premises, contributing to a safe environment for employees, visitors, and contractors alike. What You’ll Do

• Execute access control procedures in line with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act.
• Identify and register employees, visitors, and contractors at security access points.
• Authorize entry for individuals after confirming compliance with legislative requirements.
• Issue and collect admission control cards from visitors, maintaining accurate records.
• Patrol buildings and fenced-off areas to ensure ongoing security.
• Inspect suppliers and their articles before they are allowed on the premises.
• Monitor and report on the functionality of security equipment and facilities.
• Address security deficiencies and communicate issues to senior personnel.

What You’ll Need

• Competency in the core functions of the Security Officer role.
• Proficiency in English and at least one other official language.
• South African citizenship, with documentary proof required at the interview.
• A Grade 10/Standard 8/NCV level 2 certificate (NQF level 2 recognized by SAQA).
• Valid registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
• A Grade C security certificate or higher.
• No record of being declared unfit to possess a firearm.
• Willingness to undergo and maintain firearm competency training.
• A valid driver’s license for light motor vehicles is an added advantage.
• Flexibility to work shifts and extended hours as required.
• Knowledge of access control and prescribed security procedures.
