About the Opportunity
The SAMSA Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme 2026 is a 24-month immersive training designed to equip unemployed seafarers with practical skills in maritime safety operations. Participants will work alongside experienced mentors, gaining exposure to compliance monitoring, vessel surveying, and safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
– Assist with the inspection and surveying of small vessels.
– Engage in training and skills development activities.
– Support compliance monitoring aligned with maritime safety standards.
– Participate in maritime safety awareness initiatives.
– Compile and submit inspection and compliance reports.
– Assist with operational duties under the guidance of a mentor or surveyor.
Requirements/Qualifications
– Certificate of Proficiency (COP), Diploma in Maritime Studies, or related qualification.
– BSc in Nautical Science is advantageous.
– Must be an unemployed seafarer or possess a maritime qualification.
– Aged between 18 and 35 years.
– Must meet maritime medical fitness requirements.
– Basic knowledge of maritime safety regulations.
– Strong communication and report writing skills.
– Ability to work in inland, port, and coastal environments.
Benefits

Placement Locations
