What You’ll Do

  • Monitor the maintenance and repair of road surfaces, including resurfacing and line painting
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules for road infrastructure and related assets
  • Plan and prepare weekly and monthly site programs for effective project execution
  • Manage contracted services and oversee final inspections for capital projects
  • Provide technical advice regarding claims against the department
  • Ensure quality control of work performed by contractors and maintenance teams
  • Mentor and manage staff to enhance their skills and performance

What You’ll Need

  • Grade 12/Matric and an NQF level 6 qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Six years of experience in road work maintenance or construction
  • A valid driver’s license (exemptions apply for applicants with disabilities)
  • Strong knowledge of artisan-related activities and relevant Acts and regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Leadership skills to effectively manage and develop a team
  • Proficient communication and computer skills for planning and organizing tasks

Requirements

Grade 12/ Matric and a qualification at NQF level 6 in Civil Engineering or Construction Management as recognized by SAQA.

Six (6) years road work maintenance/Construction experience.

Valid driver’s license, with the exception of applicants with disabilities.

Job Duties

Monitor the maintenance and repair of road surfaces on all surfaced roads such as resurfacing interval, culvert/bridge replacement, line painting, replacement of signs, grade and resurface gravel on loose top roads.

Develop maintenance schedules for assets (roads, plant, equipment, etc.

).

Plan and prepare weekly/monthly site programme.

Manage contracted services, project management and final inspection for capital projects.

Provide technical advice on claims against the department.

Monitor and check the quality of work done by contractors/maintenance teams.

Manage and develop staff.

Salary

R413 001 per annum (Level 08)
