About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2, specializing in Psychiatry, to join their team stationed at the Bothasig Community Day Centre within the Northern/Tygerberg Sub-structure Office. What You’ll Do
- Provide effective and comprehensive nursing treatment and care for patients with psychiatric conditions.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care.
- Utilize human, material, and physical resources effectively to support patient care.
- Promote nursing practice in accordance with established standards and regulations.
- Build relationships with patients and colleagues, respecting diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Rotate within the facility and assist with other Primary Health Care clinics as needed.
What You’ll Need
- A Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent, allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification accredited with SANC in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing Science (R212), or a 4-year bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- For Grade 1: At least 4 years of relevant nursing experience post-registration with SANC.
- For Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years of relevant nursing experience post-registration, with at least 10 years in a relevant specialty.
- A valid driver’s license (Code B/EB) and the ability to rotate within the facility.
- Good interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills, along with knowledge of the Mental Health Care Act and relevant legislation.
- Computer literacy in MS Office.
