About the Role

The Department of Health is currently seeking dedicated Professional Nurses Grade 1 to Grade 3 at the Sonop Old Age Home in Bojanala and the JB Marks Treatment Centre in Dr Kenneth Kaunda. What You’ll Do

• Provide holistic and specialised nursing care to patients in accordance with established standards.
• Manage the effective utilisation of resources within the nursing unit.
• Deliver educational services to patients and their families to promote health awareness.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality nursing care.
• Perform clinical nursing practices, adhering to the scope of practice and nursing standards.
• Lead shifts and provide emergency care as needed, including being on standby for additional duties.
• Implement and uphold the Patients’ Rights Charter and Batho Pele principles.
• Coordinate patient admissions and discharge planning, ensuring seamless transitions.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records to support quality service delivery.
• Work harmoniously with individuals from diverse cultural and intellectual backgrounds.

What You’ll Need

• A basic qualification in nursing, such as a Diploma or Degree, and registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• A solid understanding of nursing legislation and ethical practices.
• Ability to plan and organise own work as well as that of support personnel.
• Knowledge of public service regulatory frameworks.
• A valid driver’s licence and computer literacy are essential.
• Experience in nursing practice and an ability to demonstrate leadership in clinical settings.
