What You’ll Do

• Manage the Mine Health and Safety Directorate and its operations.
• Conduct and report on audits and inspections related to mining safety and equipment.
• Investigate mining-related accidents, diseases, and complaints, providing necessary reports.
• Oversee compliance regarding mine closures, prospecting rights, and mining permits.
• Prepare regional reports and guidelines, revising mining legislation as needed.
• Ensure the testing and licensing of mining equipment and conduct statutory inspections.
• Coordinate the holding of board examinations as necessary.

What You’ll Need

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (NQF 7).
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency or an Advanced Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Mines).
• A minimum of 5 years of senior or middle management experience in the mining sector.
• A valid driver’s licence.
• Strong knowledge of mining practices, legal frameworks, and departmental directives.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and handle conflicts with professionalism.
• Proficiency in computer literacy and a dedication to innovative problem-solving.
