About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking two dedicated Pharmacist Assistants (Post-Basic) to join its team at the Lady Michaelis Community Day Centre located in Atlantis, Western Cape. What You’ll Do
- Assist pharmacists with reading and preparing prescriptions accurately.
- Help in the selection, manipulation, and compounding of medications.
- Label and supply medicines in appropriate containers as per pharmacist directives.
- Provide instructions on the correct use of medicines to patients.
- Support the distribution and control of medications and scheduled substances.
- Assist in the compounding or manufacturing of non-sterile and sterile medicines.
- Perform general housekeeping and administrative tasks as needed.
- Aid facilities in managing and expanding chronic medicine access, including home deliveries.
What You’ll Need
- A qualification as required by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification allowing registration with SAPC.
- Registration with SAPC as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Grade 1: No experience required post-registration.
- Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Pharmacist Assistant post-registration.
- Grade 3: Minimum of 13 years’ experience as a Pharmacist Assistant post-registration.
- A valid Code B/EB driver’s license.
- Willingness to work after hours and travel between facilities.
- Good computer literacy and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team under pressure.
