The Department of Finance is seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer to join their team in Mmabatho. What You’ll Do
- Process salary payments and deductions accurately and on time
- Handle travel and subsistence claims, as well as other salary-related claims
- Prevent unauthorized expenditures related to Persal effectively
- Conduct bi-annual and annual tax reconciliations on staff remuneration
- Liaise with SARS regarding all PAYE matters
- Assist with payroll certification processes
- Maintain, safeguard, and dispose of salary records and files
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of Grade 12 with two years of relevant experience in Salary Management, or a National Diploma/Advance Certificate in HRM/Finance/Accounting (or equivalent NQF 6 qualification) with one year of relevant experience
- A Persal certificate in Introduction to Persal is compulsory
- Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations
- Proficiency in computer literacy and working knowledge of government systems (BAS, Walker, Persal) is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent interpersonal and customer relations abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with precision under pressure
- Effective planning and time management skills
