About the Opportunity
Join the NFVF and contribute to the preservation of South Africa’s rich archival heritage. This internship offers a unique chance to work on the seventh Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme, focusing on digitising records held by the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa and its provincial counterparts. The project commences on 24 August 2026, spanning all nine provinces and the National Archives in Pretoria.

Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Archivist, you will be involved in:
– Digitising and arranging archival records
– Supporting records management and client services
– Engaging in oral history and appraisal projects
– Contributing to capacity building and conservation efforts

Requirements/Qualifications
Eligible candidates must be South African graduates or unemployed youth aged 35 or younger, with a diploma or degree in fields such as Archival Studies, Information Science, Film Studies, or Sound Engineering. Prior participants of PESP projects are discouraged from applying.
