What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain methodologies for strategic and operational planning regarding Health Care Benefits.
  • Conduct health needs assessments and risk assessments to monitor progress against strategic objectives.
  • Prepare technical reports, briefing notes, and recommendations for health care benefits planning and performance.
  • Provide clinical input into the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for clinical interventions and pharmaceuticals.
  • Define and update referral guidelines and clinical pathways to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the annual plan for the procurement of health care services and medical technologies.
  • Prepare evidence-based information for publication regarding health care benefits and referral guidelines.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist.
  • Relevant experience as a Medical Specialist, with a minimum of five years for Grade 2 and ten years for Grade 3.
  • Working knowledge of health needs assessment and the South African Health Care System.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the National Health Insurance Plan and related public service regulations.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.
