What You’ll Do

• Manage clinical care for mental health users within the psychiatric unit and outreach services.
• Supervise a multidisciplinary team of mental health care providers and support staff.
• Lead ward rounds for in-patients and coordinate the Specialist Psychiatry Outpatients Clinic.
• Conduct patient evaluations, treatment plans, and rehabilitation strategies.
• Address patient complaints and ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Teach and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in psychiatry.
• Participate in research initiatives and contribute to academic programs.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

What You’ll Need

• Relevant qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in psychiatry.
• Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in psychiatry.
• For Grade 2, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field after registration.
• For Grade 3, a minimum of 10 years’ experience post-registration.
• Excellent clinical, supervisory, and teaching skills.
• Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and protocols.
• A valid driver’s license.
