What You’ll Do
- Manage clinical care for mental health users within the psychiatric unit and outreach services.
- Supervise a multidisciplinary team of mental health care providers and support staff.
- Lead ward rounds for in-patients and coordinate the Specialist Psychiatry Outpatients Clinic.
- Conduct patient evaluations, treatment plans, and rehabilitation strategies.
- Address patient complaints and ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Teach and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in psychiatry.
- Participate in research initiatives and contribute to academic programs.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
What You’ll Need
- Relevant qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in psychiatry.
- Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in psychiatry.
- For Grade 2, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field after registration.
- For Grade 3, a minimum of 10 years’ experience post-registration.
- Excellent clinical, supervisory, and teaching skills.
- Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and protocols.
- A valid driver’s license.
