What You’ll Do

• Manage clinical evaluation, care, and treatment of patients in the Critical Care Department.
• Provide leadership for critical care services and conduct evidence-based intensive care practices.
• Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds and supervise relevant staff.
• Coordinate and support the teaching, training, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Conduct and support departmental research, developing your own research interests and publishing findings.
• Perform administrative tasks related to patient management and address patient complaints.
• Participate in after-hours ICU cover, call duties, and other institutional responsibilities as required.
• Comply with performance management processes, including assessments and reviews.

What You’ll Need

• Grade 12 and appropriate qualifications for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist (Physician) with a Critical Care certificate.
• An appropriate tertiary qualification in Health Science (MBChB).
• Current registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Critical Care.
• For Grade 2: 5 years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist post-registration.
• For Grade 3: 10 years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist post-registration.
• A postgraduate qualification in Management is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills and computer literacy.
• Proven clinical expertise, research experience, and ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Excellent people management, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
