What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the education and training of medical students and residents in urology.
- Organise and facilitate surgical skills training courses for healthcare professionals.
- Oversee day surgery, surgical clinics, and respond to surgical emergencies.
- Perform major urology surgeries, including laparoscopic, trauma, endourological, and oncological procedures.
- Manage specialist urological patients both at Groote Schuur Hospital and affiliated hospitals like Eerste River and Western Cape Rehabilitation Hospitals.
- Provide outpatient consulting services to ensure comprehensive patient care.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Urology.
- Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Urology.
- For Grade 1: No experience required post HPCSA registration.
- For Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years of appropriate experience post HPCSA registration.
- For Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years of appropriate experience post HPCSA registration.
- Competence in performing urological surgeries at a tertiary level and experience in adult and paediatric urology, including renal transplantation.
- Research experience in urology.
