What You’ll Do

  • Engage in structured teaching and supervision for undergraduate students, registrars, and other health professionals.
  • Participate in academic activities and contribute to relevant research in psychiatry.
  • Deliver safe and effective care, including emergency psychiatry and the management of eating disorders.

What You’ll Need

  • A qualification that permits registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry.
  • Experience:
  • Grade 1: No experience required after registration.
  • Grade 2: At least 5 years of experience as a Medical Specialist after registration.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Medical Specialist after registration.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Strong specialist knowledge in adult psychiatry, including emergency situations and eating disorders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams.
