The Tygerberg Hospital, located in the vibrant Parow Valley, is seeking dedicated Medical Specialists in Ophthalmology for Grades 1 to 3. What You’ll Do
- Manage clinical assessments and treatments for patients in general ophthalmology and specialized clinics.
- Perform and teach cataract surgery, enhancing skills within the medical community.
- Conduct administrative tasks related to corneal, glaucoma, and adnexal units.
- Engage in research activities to advance knowledge in cornea, glaucoma, and ocular adnexal diseases.
- Provide outreach and support to the Tygerberg Hospital Ecosystem, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care.
- Mentor and teach medical students, medical officers, and registrars in cataract management and other specialties.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate medical qualification enabling registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Ophthalmology.
- For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration with the HPCSA.
- For Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Medical Specialist after HPCSA registration.
- For Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Medical Specialist post-registration.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Proven experience in cataract surgery and interest in glaucoma, cornea, or adnexal surgery.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
