What You’ll Do

• Manage specialist anaesthetic patients across various hospitals.
• Provide clinical services and ensure high-quality patient care.
• Engage in the academic leadership of under- and postgraduate teaching.
• Organise and contribute to anaesthetic skills training courses.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to registrars.
• Participate in administrative duties, including assessments and performance management.
• Collaborate with referring institutions to facilitate outreach and support.
• Foster a positive departmental team spirit and promote professional development.

What You’ll Need

• Appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesiology.
• Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesiology.
• For Grade 1: No experience required after HPCSA registration.
• For Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Medical Specialist after registration.
• For Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Medical Specialist after registration.
• Strong educational or teaching background in anaesthesia.
• Knowledge of health care challenges in South Africa and a commitment to diversity and equity.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven leadership capabilities in clinical anaesthesia and perioperative medicine.
