What You’ll Do

  • Deliver Medical Physics services in Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, and Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Assist with departmental administration and equipment tender preparations.
  • Manage dosimetry, quality assurance, and radiation protection functions.
  • Coordinate with other institutions on Medical Physics activities.
  • Attend and present at meetings, workshops, and continuing professional development activities.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all equipment and accessories.
  • Design and implement new treatment protocols.
  • Provide training on radiation protection and the handling of radioactive materials.
  • Conduct quality control procedures in radiotherapy.
  • Support radiation oncology treatment planning and implementation of new techniques.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate qualification for registration as a Medical Physicist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist is mandatory.
  • Experience: Grade 1 – None after registration; Grade 2 – 8 years; Grade 3 – 16 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of regulations concerning the medical use of ionizing radiation.
  • Proficiency in solving radiotherapy physics problems and understanding diagnostic radiology physics.
