What You’ll Do

• Perform clinical triage and manage patients in the Labour Suite, addressing both emergency and routine cases.
• Lead and supervise the medical team, including students, interns, and midwives, providing training and mentorship.
• Oversee the administration of clinical and non-clinical matters, including medico-legal work.
• Manage critically ill patients and perform necessary emergency procedures, including resuscitation.
• Ensure cost-effective management of laboratory services, medical supplies, and equipment.
• Contribute to the department’s strategic goals and objectives through effective leadership and guidance.

What You’ll Need

• Appropriate qualification for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
• For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration for South African qualified practitioners; one year for foreign qualified.
• For Grade 2: Minimum of five years’ experience post-registration for South African practitioners; six years for foreign qualified.
• For Grade 3: Minimum of ten years’ experience post-registration for South African practitioners; eleven years for foreign qualified.
• Valid South African (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
• Willingness to work after hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Skills in obstetric care and the ability to perform Caesarean sections independently and safely.
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience managing emergency gynaecological procedures.
