About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Medical Officer Grade 1 to 3, with three posts available located in Khayelitsha CHC, Michael Mapongwana CDC, and Mfuleni CDC. What You’ll Do
- Provide quality outpatient care to patients within Primary Health Care facilities
- Deliver emergency care at the 24-hour Emergency Centre
- Conduct outreach services to support health facilities within the Khayelitsha/Eastern Sub-structure
- Manage clinical and non-clinical administrative tasks efficiently
- Participate in training and skills transfer initiatives
- Engage actively in the clinical governance processes of the facilities
What You’ll Need
- Appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner
- Relevant experience as follows:
- Grade 1: No experience required post-registration (SA qualified) or 1 year (foreign qualified)
- Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years’ experience post-registration (SA qualified) or 6 years (foreign qualified)
- Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years’ experience post-registration (SA qualified) or 11 years (foreign qualified)
- Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence and willingness to perform COT at Khayelitsha CHC
- Knowledge of South African treatment guidelines (e.g., PACK, IMCI, TB, and HIV care guidelines)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
