What You’ll Do

  • Conduct audits and inspections of mining operations, focusing on safety and compliance.
  • Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and complaints in the mining sector.
  • Analyse trends in mining accidents to identify high-risk operations and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Provide input on mine closures, prospecting rights, and the application of mining permits.
  • Contribute to regional reports and assist in the revision of mining regulations and guidelines.

What You’ll Need

  • A National Diploma in Mining Engineering (NQF6).
  • A Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the mining industry.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of mining operations and related legal frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.

Job Duties

Conduct and report on underground, shaft and surface audits and inspections on matters relating to ground stability, support, explosives, blasting operations, and other matters relating to mine safety and take the necessary enforcement action where necessary.

Investigate and report on mine related accidents, contraventions and complaints as well as analyse mine accidents and trends to determine high risk mining operations and take appropriate action.

Serve on any necessary board of examiners.

Investigate, consult and provide inputs on mine closures, prospecting rights, mining rights and permits, EMPs and Township development.

Provide inputs to regional reports, revision of mining regulations, guidelines, standard and applications of exemptions, permissions and approvals related to mining.

Salary

R932 292 per annum (Level 11), (all-inclusive package)
