What You’ll Do

  • Execute minor general building maintenance and repairs.
  • Address plumbing and electrical issues as they arise.
  • Conduct routine weekly and monthly inspections of the college’s facilities.
  • Report unauthorized movement of equipment and deliberate damage.
  • Clear blockages in drains, urinary facilities, and toilets.
  • Replace taps and repair broken furniture when necessary.
  • Paint buildings and touch up areas as requested.
  • Maintain the main kitchen fat drain and clean gutters.
  • Ensure stormwater channels are functioning properly.
  • Store tools safely and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Report the need for major maintenance to your supervisor.
  • Perform any additional tasks related to the position as required.

What You’ll Need

  • National Senior Certificate/Grade 12/Standard 10 or equivalent.
  • A qualification in plumbing, electrical work, or carpentry is preferred.
  • A recognized Trade test certificate will be advantageous.
  • 0-6 months of experience in a similar working environment.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and building maintenance.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools, along with building infrastructure layouts.
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and good communication abilities.
  • A valid driver’s license (Code 10/EC1) may be an advantage.

Requirements

National Senior Certificate/ Grade 12/ Standard 10 or equivalent.

Computer literacy and basic software (outlook, Excel, and word).

Communication skills, team participation, reliability innovative.

All shortlisted candidates shall undertake a pre-entry practical exercise as part of 59 the assessment method to determine the candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements.

A valid driver’s licence may be an advantage (Code 10 / EC1)

Job Duties

Execute minor general building and maintenance equipment, attend to minor plumbing, electrical capacity, and handyman.

Conduct routine weekly and monthly inspections of the building.

Report unauthorized movement of equipment.

Report deliberates damage to property and assets.

Salary
