About the Role
The Department of Finance is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Finance Clerk in Grahamstown, also known as Makhanda. What You’ll Do
- Process payments for service providers and manage the payment register.
- Provide support to the Financial Accounting team.
- Receive, verify, and submit claims and invoices for approval.
- Capture travel and cellphone claims on the PERSAL and BAS systems.
- Administer petty cash for the office and ensure proper tracking of creditors’ payments.
- Distribute finance-related policies and circulars to relevant officials.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Prepare and submit certified payroll to Head Office monthly.
- Assist in compiling the regional budget and printing expenditure reports for management.
What You’ll Need
- Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
- Basic numeracy skills and competency in financial processes.
- Knowledge of Public Finance, PERSAL, BAS, and LOGIS systems.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Analytical skills and general computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate accountability.
