What You’ll Do
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on medical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electronic, electrical, and biomedical equipment.
- Calibrate medical devices and maintain accurate calibration records.
- Install and commission new medical equipment, ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
- Manage medical equipment records and monitor equipment downtime.
- Support the procurement process by developing technical specifications and evaluating bids.
- Supervise external contractors and ensure compliance with service agreements.
- Conduct quality assurance inspections and participate in internal audits.
- Train healthcare personnel on the safe operation of medical equipment.
- Compile technical reports and maintain service records.
What You’ll Need
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Engineering or a relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of three years of post-qualification experience.
- Compulsory registration with ECSA as an Engineering Technician.
- Knowledge of medical equipment maintenance principles and clinical engineering practices.
- Familiarity with occupational health and safety standards, along with health technology management principles.
- Proficiency in biomedical test equipment and electronic troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between healthcare facilities.

Job Duties
Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on medical equipment.Conduct functional performance verification.

Corrective Maintenance: Diagnose equipment faults.

Return equipment to clinical service after safety testing.
Calibration and Performance Testing: Calibrate medical devices using approved biomedical test equipment.
Verify measurement accuracy.
Maintain calibration records.
Ensure traceability of calibration standards.
Installation and Commissioning: Install new medical equipment.
Perform acceptance testing.
Verify compliance with technical specifications.
Commission equipment for clinical use.
